Attorney Kyle K. Scott
Fayetteville has always been home. I grew up here, attended school here, worked here, started my family here, and this community absolutely helped shape the person I am today. Being able to build my practice here and serve the people of my own community is something I do not take for granted.
My legal education began over a decade ago at Fayetteville Technical Community College with an associate degree in paralegal technology. My legal career began as a paralegal with the Cumberland County Department of Social Services assisting attorneys with child abuse and neglect cases. Although I had planned on working in criminal law, I found my work at CCDSS to be incredibly meaningful and found immense satisfaction in using my career to help people in need. In 2022, I resigned from my paralegal position to attend law school full time at the great North Carolina Central University School of Law. After completing law school and passing the bar exam on my first attempt, I returned to CCDSS to continue serving my community as an attorney.
I have spent the past year representing the Department in Juvenile Division of District Court. The number of children who enter the care of the Department each year is a sobering reminder of the challenges many families in our community face. In a one-year period as the DSS attorney I appeared before the court on over 1,000 hearings, conducted numerous adjudication and termination of parental right trials, and practiced before numerous judges across multiple counties. My experience with the Department gave me the opportunity to handle difficult and meaningful cases, efficiently manage a high-volume caseload, strengthen my courtroom advocacy, refine my legal writing skills, and gain firsthand insight into how our legal system impacts families and individuals.
As a DSS attorney, I sought justice for abused and neglected children, and many times, I was fortunate to help achieve it. I also encountered situations where individuals felt unheard, overwhelmed, or uncertain that their voices mattered. Those experiences reinforced my belief that every person deserves an attorney who is prepared, who listens carefully, and who advocates tirelessly for their rights. They also strengthened my conviction that justice requires both courage and compassion.
That is why I decided to start my own firm.
I wanted the opportunity to represent individuals directly and to provide the kind of personalized, prepared, and dedicated representation that guided my work as a government attorney. Through my practice, I currently focus on criminal defense, traffic violations, family law, and juvenile law.
At The Law Office of Kyle K. Scott, PLLC, my commitment is to provide honest advice, thoughtful legal strategy, and determined advocacy for every client I represent. Whether you are facing a family law matter, criminal charge, traffic citation, or juvenile case, I will work diligently to protect your rights and help you navigate the legal process with confidence. Whether resolving a matter through negotiation or advocating in the courtroom, my goal is to provide every client with the same level of preparation, professionalism, and dedication that has guided my career from the very beginning.
This is just the beginning, and I'm honored to have the opportunity to serve the community that has given me so much. I look forward to using my skills and experience to protect the rights of individuals and families in our community and ensure every client receives the dedicated representation they deserve.
